Meet every option in Helldivers II Ranking

Rank all 49 Helldivers II primary weapons by what they actually ask of a loadout: learning curve, accuracy and handling, armor penetration, burst or crowd power, ammunition economy, faction matchup, and unlock cost. These notes combine current weapon data with recent player testing; a premium favorite is not automatically better than a free rifle, and a specialist should be judged in the fight it was built to solve.

Editorial review: 2026-07-27

  1. Accelerator

A long-range plasma sniper with high single-shot power and excellent precision, but its small magazine and deliberate cadence punish misses. It has a steep learning curve and mainly rewards patient weak-point shots against Automatons.

    Official source
  2. Amendment

Amendment pairs heavy marksman damage with a bayonet, making accurate shots and last-ditch melee hits satisfying. Poor ergonomics and only light armor penetration make it awkward for beginners and less flexible than the best bot rifles.

    Official source
  3. AR-2 Coyote

Coyote combines a large magazine, medium armor penetration, and incendiary rounds, so it clears crowds without giving up damage against tougher targets. Community testing rates it among the easiest top-tier picks for Terminids and Illuminate, with only a smaller edge against Automatons.

    Official source
  4. AR-23 Liberator

The free starter rifle has low recoil, clear sights, generous ammunition, and reliable mid-range accuracy, making it the best baseline for learning gunplay. Its light penetration and merely balanced damage fall behind specialized weapons against armored elites.

    Official source
  5. AR-23C Liberator Concussive

A huge drum and strong knockback make the Concussive forgiving when the team needs breathing room. Its low kill speed and light penetration mean it controls crowds far better than it finishes armored enemies, so rank it as support rather than raw power.

    Official source
  6. AR-23P Liberator Penetrator

Medium armor penetration and manageable recoil make this a straightforward answer to common armored enemies. It gives up damage efficiency and magazine comfort versus the base Liberator, so its medal-only free-Warbond access is more attractive than its peak performance.

    Official source
  7. AR-32 Pacifier

Pacifier offers a 40-round magazine, mild recoil, medium penetration, and stun rounds, so beginners can hold a lane safely. The tradeoff is very low raw damage: it buys control and setup time for teammates rather than fast solo kills.

    Official source
  8. AR-59 Suppressor

An integrated suppressor and high fire rate support stealthy close-to-mid-range play without making the rifle hard to understand. Its otherwise average damage and penetration make it a flexible quiet option, not a top crowd-clearer or elite killer.

    Official source
  9. ARC-12 Blitzer

Blitzer needs no ammunition or true reload and its short electric arcs can stagger several nearby targets, which makes basic aiming easy. Arc selection is inconsistent, range is short, and careless shots threaten teammates, so positioning matters more than precision.

    Official source
  10. ARGL-21 One Two

The rifle itself has ordinary damage and clumsy handling, but the underbarrel grenade launcher adds burst area damage and utility against clustered enemies and objectives. Learning the weapon swap and grenade arc pays off; limited grenades keep that versatility from being free.

    Official source
  11. BR-14 Adjudicator

High bullet damage and medium penetration let the Adjudicator hurt armored infantry, especially Automatons and Illuminate. A small magazine and sharp recoil make full-auto wasteful; controlled bursts, crouching, and attachments reward experienced aim.

    Official source
  12. CB-9 Crossbow

This one-handed crossbow delivers medium-penetrating explosions and can destroy nests or fabricators, giving a loadout unusual objective utility. The tiny magazine, slow projectile, drop, and self-damage demand practice, but community rankings value its power against every faction.

    Official source
  13. Constitution

The free commemorative bolt-action rifle is precise, punchy, and fitted with a bayonet, but its small internal magazine, slow reload, and limited penetration are deliberately old-fashioned. It is a high-skill style pick, not an efficient first recommendation.

    Official source
  14. Cookout

Cookout adds incendiary damage to the Punisher's strong stagger and shell-by-shell reload, making it excellent at stopping and burning Terminid or Voteless waves. Its slow cadence and fire spread require spacing around teammates, while per-shell loading reduces wasted ammunition.

    Official source
  15. DBS-2 Double Freedom

Double Freedom can fire either barrel separately or both together for exceptional close-range burst damage. That power comes with constant reloading, heavy ammunition use, and dangerous engagement distance; its direct Superstore cost also makes it a luxury rather than an early unlock.

    Official source
  16. Deadeye

This lever-action rifle has outstanding damage per shot and rewards exact weak-point aim, particularly against Automatons. Slow cycling and reloading leave little room for panic or crowd pressure, so its ceiling is high but its ease of use is low.

    Official source
  17. Double Edge Sickle

Its damage and armor penetration rise with heat, and it can keep firing after normal heat limits by burning the wielder. The result is top-tier sustained power with a real execution tax: fire-resistant armor, healing, and disciplined heat control are part of the price.

    Official source
  18. FLAM-66 Torcher

A primary-slot flamethrower that melts dense Terminid and Voteless groups without demanding precise aim. Its reach is short and fire can trap the user or teammates, while mediocre performance into armored machines makes spacing and faction choice essential.

    Official source
  19. Halt

Halt switches between flechettes for damage and stun shells for control, giving skilled players two jobs in one shotgun. The mode and ammunition management add friction, and its raw damage struggles on robust targets; many players value it more as a premier stun primary than as a killer.

    Official source
  20. JAR-5 Dominator

Jet-propelled rounds deliver heavy impact, strong stagger, and medium penetration, making the Dominator rewarding against armored infantry. Slow handling, sharp recoil, a modest magazine, and low projectile speed demand deliberate aim instead of reactive spraying.

    Official source
  21. LAS-16 Sickle

Very low recoil, a fast fire rate, and rifle-like handling make the Sickle one of the easiest accurate generalists. Damage per shot is modest, but careful cooling gives effectively infinite ammunition; hot planets and panic reloads reduce that economy.

    Official source
  22. LAS-5 Scythe

A continuous laser beam offers pinpoint accuracy, easy tracking, ignition, and unlimited ammunition when heat is managed. Its low burst damage makes sudden threats and armored targets slow to remove, so it favors calm sustained aim over emergency stopping power.

    Official source
  23. Liberator Carbine

The Carbine trades the Liberator's calm mid-range control for a much faster close-range fire rate and higher DPS. It is intuitive against rushing Terminids but recoil and ammunition consumption punish long bursts, especially at distance.

    Official source
  24. M7S SMG

The quiet Halo SMG supports stealth and close movement, with familiar automatic handling that is easy to pick up. Unremarkable damage and weak reach leave it behind louder alternatives once a fight starts, so its value depends on avoiding detection rather than winning a DPS race.

    Official source
  25. M90A Shotgun

M90A combines exceptional shotgun damage with unusually good range, so careful center-mass shots feel powerful and accurate. A six-round tube and only light penetration force frequent shell loading and weak-point aim; its Legendary Warbond access also costs more than a standard premium unlock.

    Official source
  26. MA5C Assault Rifle

MA5C is accurate and has medium penetration, so its familiar assault-rifle handling works against armored infantry. Modest damage, a relatively tight magazine, and no attachment customization cap its value, especially given the higher-priced Legendary Warbond.

    Official source
  27. MP-98 Knight

Knight's extreme fire rate is immediately lethal to light targets at point-blank range and its one-handed class supports shield or objective carrying. Recoil and ammunition disappear just as quickly, range is poor, and the paid Super Citizen requirement makes it bad value unless its niche is exactly what you want.

    Official source
  28. PLAS-1 Scorcher

Scorcher fires accurate explosive plasma bolts that damage armor through splash, a long-standing strength against Automatons and a strong option for every faction. Its small magazine and lethal self-damage at close range make ammunition discipline and spacing the main learning costs.

    Official source
  29. Pummeler

One-handed concussive rounds can stagger enemies while a shield or objective is carried, making Pummeler safe and simple as a control tool. Low damage and penetration leave it feeling like a weaker Defender when control is unnecessary, so its opportunity cost is high.

    Official source
  30. Purifier

Purifier can fire quick plasma shots or charge for much higher medium-penetrating explosive damage, giving it answers to crowds and armored infantry across all factions. Learning charge timing and safe splash distance takes practice, but current testing places its power ceiling at the very top.

    Official source
  31. R-36 Eruptor

Bolt-action shrapnel shells erase clusters, damage heavily armored parts, and close nests or fabricators, giving the primary slot enormous utility. The rifle is cumbersome, slow, and dangerous to the user and team at close range; mastering distance matters more than rapid aim.

    Official source
  32. R-63 Diligence

Diligence is light, accurate, and quick enough for repeated weak-point shots, especially on exposed Automaton heads. It is easier and more ammunition-friendly than the Counter Sniper, but light penetration and lower impact make missed precision much less valuable against crowds.

    Official source
  33. R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper

Counter Sniper doubles down on precision with heavier damage and penetration, making stable weak-point shots excellent against Automatons. Slower handling and tighter ammunition punish movement and misses, so crouched or prone firing is far more accurate than snap shooting.

    Official source
  34. R-72 Censor DMR

Censor is a quiet, high-powered Diligence variant that can remove a Devastator with a precise headshot without immediately waking the whole patrol. It is exceptional for stealthy Automaton play, but its precision dependence and lower crowd tempo make it less forgiving elsewhere.

    Official source
  35. Reprimand

Reprimand hits unusually hard for an SMG and its medium penetration handles armored infantry well at close-to-mid range. A slow fire rate, rough handling, small practical range, and inability to fire one-handed remove the conveniences normally expected from the class.

    Official source
  36. SG-225 Breaker

Breaker remains a fast, hard-hitting close-range shotgun, but it now rewards centered shots and controlled bursts rather than blind automatic fire. Light penetration, spread, and magazine reloads reduce its reach and endurance, while its familiar handling keeps the learning curve moderate.

    Official source
  37. SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary

Wide pellet coverage and lingering fire make this Breaker exceptional for coating organic crowds, especially Terminids, even when every pellet is not perfectly placed. Direct damage and armor performance are poor against Automatons, and careless fire spread can cost teammates health or stims.

    Official source
  38. SG-225SP Breaker Spray & Pray

A large magazine, fast automatic fire, and duckbill choke spread pellets in a horizontal line, making weak swarms easy to sweep. Very low damage and light penetration waste ammunition on anything sturdy, so ease of use should not be mistaken for high power.

    Official source
  39. SG-8 Punisher

Punisher delivers strong close-range damage and stagger with simple, readable pump-action handling. Loading one shell at a time prevents magazine waste and allows interruption, but its slow cadence and long empty reload punish panic against large waves.

    Official source
  40. SG-8P Punisher Plasma

Despite the shotgun label, this behaves like an arcing plasma grenade launcher with medium penetration and explosive crowd control. Judging trajectory and minimum safe distance takes practice, but once learned it is a solid all-faction tool that can stagger groups behind cover.

    Official source
  41. SG-8S Slugger

Slugs exchange pellet spread for better range, precision, and medium penetration, letting a shotgun target armored weak points. Missing hurts more than with buckshot and shell-by-shell loading limits tempo, while current community tests see it as competent rather than exceptional.

    Official source
  42. SG-97 Sweeper

Full-auto medium-penetrating flechettes, strong damage, and a bayonet make Sweeper one of the best close-quarters primaries against every faction. Recoil, spread, and close-range risk still need control, while its direct Superstore purchase makes the excellent performance comparatively expensive.

    Official source
  43. SMG-FLAM-34 Stoker

Stoker combines slow, heavy SMG bullets with an underbarrel flamethrower, switching between accurate single-target hits and close crowd burning. Poor ergonomics and light penetration are real limits, but the dual role makes it a community favorite against Terminids and Illuminate.

    Official source
  44. SMG-37 Defender

Defender is stable, one-handed, and easy to use while carrying a shield or objective, with solid close-range damage for an early free-Warbond unlock. Its light penetration, ordinary fire rate, and limited reach are now outclassed by many newer primaries.

    Official source
  45. StA-11 SMG

A large magazine and very high fire rate make the Killzone SMG simple fun against light targets at close range. It burns ammunition, loses control and damage with distance, cannot take attachments, and its premium crossover pricing is hard to justify beside the Knight or stronger modern SMGs.

    Official source
  46. StA-52 Assault Rifle

StA-52 offers Liberator-like damage with a faster fire rate and larger magazine, so its basic close-range output is easy to understand. Heavier recoil, no attachment support, and premium crossover cost leave it inaccurate at range and poor value compared with customizable rifles.

    Official source
  47. Tenderizer

Tenderizer has excellent per-bullet damage, low recoil, and clean accuracy, rewarding short controlled bursts at weak points. Light penetration and an average magazine limit tougher targets and sustained crowds, so its premium-Warbond cost buys polish rather than a dominant niche.

    Official source
  48. Trident

Trident spreads laser bolts like an energy shotgun, clearing soft crowds with almost no ammunition cost when heat is managed. It overheats quickly and has poor armor performance, so short measured volleys are easy to learn but sustained panic fire wastes heat sinks.

    Official source
  49. VG-70 Variable

Seven barrels and three firing modes let Variable trade precision, volume, and burst for different ranges, with especially good crowd output against Illuminate. Only light penetration, limited reserves, and unusual handling give it a higher learning and ammunition cost than its flexibility first suggests.
